State Senator Rush wants to call you personally!
Last spring, the RISE Immigrant Rights Working Group scheduled a meeting with the Senator on June 6, which he unfortunately had to cancel about a week before it happened. We went ahead anyway and had a great conversation about the Safe Communities Act and the complexity of immigration with the 180+ folks in the room.
Senator Rush promised to reschedule for the fall, but now it looks like that cannot happen. Instead, the Senator has offered to personally call RISE members who want to speak with him. He is willing to call up to 187 people, the number of attendees at our June meeting.
To be honest, we’re not sure what to make of this. But why pass up a chance to speak directly with the Senator and express our views?
If you’d like Senator Rush to call you at some point during the next three weeks, add your name and phone number here. All who live in Sen. Rush’s Roslindale, Hyde Park and West Roxbury district are wanted and needed for this challenge!
Once you sign up, we will send you talking points and more info. We’ll ask you to please share with the Senator that you are supporting the Safe Communities Act. You should also feel free to discuss other issues that matter to you.
If you already agreed to receive a call from Senator Rush, thank you! Remember to let us know how it goes.
Also: Please join the Immigrant Rights Working Group for a meeting on October 12 at 6:30 at the Roslindale Library Branch. We will have an informal teach-in on DACA, TPS, and other issues, and discuss our work moving forward. RSVP and spread the word on Facebook.
